BRIEFLY DAVIS ANNOUNCES TERROR ALERT SETUP.


Gov. Gray Davis on Thursday said an alert system similar to the one in place during the power crisis would be set up and used to notify citizens of potential terrorist threats.

Police investigate discovery of body

GLENDALE - Homicide detectives Thursday were investigating a body found after police received a call of a woman not breathing, authorities said.

Police received the call just before 4 p.m. and responded to find the body of the woman who appeared to be in her 60s in a location on Wilson Avenue.

$25,000 to help school programs

CANOGA PARK - Welby Way Elementary School elementary school: see school.  received a $25,000 Getty House The Getty House is the official residence of the Mayor of Los Angeles, California, USA. It is located at 605 S. Irving Boulevard in Windsor Square, a neighborhood just east of the Hancock Park district, and located approximately five miles WNW of Los Angeles City Hall.  Foundation grant Thursday to expand its fourth-grade art program and school chamber music group.

The money will help all 180 fourth-graders have art classes, and provide musical instruments and lessons to students in all grades.

Its chief manufactures are rubber products and computers.  - A state Assembly committee heard from local health experts Thursday to explore the relationship between children's well-being and their performance in school.

The committee is scheduled to release a report early next year.

2 plead not guilty to misusing card

VENTURA - Two Burbank men pleaded not guilty Thursday to charging $25,000 worth of merchandise at the Camarillo Factory Outlets using a fraudulent credit card, officials said.

Tigran Petroysan, 32, and Garegin Babayan, 26, are charged with multiple counts of commercial burglary, grand theft, forgery of an access card and identity theft.
