BRIEFLY COUPLE ARRESTED IN DRUG DISCOVERY.


LANCASTER - A Lancaster couple were in custody Saturday for violating probation after deputies discovered about $70,000 worth of rock cocaine at their Carefree Court home, officials said.

Robert Haywood, 31, and Diedra Haywood, 33, respectively, were arrested on suspicion of manufacturing a controlled substance controlled substance n. a drug which has been declared by federal or state law to be illegal for sale or use, but may be dispensed under a physician's prescription.  and possession of a controlled substance for sales.

The pair were taken into custody after deputies making a surprise probation inspection found about 310 grams of rock cocaine and 140 grams of cocaine powder.

The Haywoods had been on probation for a drug possession conviction, officials said.

The unidentified man was shot about 6 p.m. Friday near East Avenue Q and 2nd Street East by three men in a blue Chevrolet Monte Carlo The Chevrolet Monte Carlo was an American mid-size car. Originally introduced by Chevrolet for the 1970 model year (as competition with the Ford Thunderbird), it has gone through six generations as of 2007. , officials said. Deputies do not know what motivated the incident, but said it was probably gang-related.
