BRIEFLY COUNTY TAKES STEPS FOR HOUSING GRANTS.


VENTURA - County supervisors took steps Tuesday to secure more than $3.5 million in federal grants to build homes for low-income families in Fillmore, Moorpark, Ojai, Port Hueneme Port Hueneme (wī'nē`mē), city (1990 pop. 20,319), Ventura co., S Calif., on the Pacific coast; founded 1870, inc. 1948. It has an artificial deep-sea harbor and is the site of a huge naval construction-battalion (Seabee) center.  and Santa Paula Santa Paula (săn`tə pôl`ə), city (1990 pop. 25,062), Ventura co., S Calif., on the Santa Clara River in a fertile valley that yields citrus fruits, avocados, vegetables, flowers, nursery products, and walnuts; laid out 1875, inc. .

By approving a five-year consolidated plan and annual action plan, the supervisors qualified the county to receive funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

City asks for more project information

SIMI VALLEY - City officials asked developers Tuesday to come back with more specific plans for a proposed industrial and residential development in Alamos The name Álamos can refer to the following:

 Canyon.

Unocal Land Development and Simi Valley planning officials have been holding informal meetings to review the progress of proposals in anticipation of the project being brought before the City Council.

At issue is Unocal's request to amend the city's hillside building standards on 2,430 acres north of the 118 Freeway, west of Erringer Road and east of the Simi SIMI Sea Ice Mechanics Initiative

Preliminary designs by Unocal call for a multiuse development, which would include a business park, a cemetery, sports fields and three residential spurs.

Al Boughey, Simi Valley Director of Environmental Services, asked that Unocal officials present more detailed plans during their June 13 meeting.

``To get this moving along, we need to see further developments for the specific plans that you have,'' Boughey told Unocal officials. ``We would like to start hearing about what type of businesses you would like to attract, building heights, the size and location of manufactured hillsides and the number and type of houses in the residential conception.''

Moorpark athletes honored for grades
