Sanitation worker probed in dumping

WINNETKA - The LAPD 1. LAPD - Link Access Procedure on the D channel.

is investigating a city sanitation worker who was operating a street sweeper after he allegedly dumped liquid waste from the sweeper near a youth baseball park.

A witness spotted the worker making the dump Wednesday in the 6400 block of Winnetka Avenue about 1:30 p.m., said LAPD Sgt. Andre Risse. Patrol officers arrived before the man could finish unloading, he said.

The worker apparently didn't want to drive to the proper dumping site to save time, Risse said.

The liquid is believed to be largely runoff water collected by the cleaner as it picks up debris from the road, Risse said.
