Seven to receive $1,000 for school

Seven local students will be awarded $1,000 college scholarships today at the ninth annual Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Program awards luncheon at the Omni Hotel.

Public meeting to discuss budget

SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  - A public meeting to discuss the city's 2001-02 budget will be held 5:30 p.m. May 31 at City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road.

Copies of the budget will be available for review beginning Friday at City Hall and at the Ventura County Library, 2969 Tapo Canyon Road.

Water and energy subject of forum

OXNARD - A symposium on the impact of reduced water supplies and skyrocketing energy costs will be held 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 1 at the Radisson Hotel in Oxnard.

The Associations of Water Agencies of Ventura County is hosting the forum. Cost is $75 for nonmembers and $25 for students. Reservations are due by Monday by calling (805) 644-0922.
