The Los Angeles City Council The Los Angeles City Council is the governing body of the City of Los Angeles, California, United States. , at the request of Councilman Joel Wachs Joel Wachs served for several terms as Los Angeles City Councilman for the 2nd district. He was first elected by defeating incumbent James B. Potter.

While in office, Wachs chaired the Public Works Committee and vice-chair of the Environmental Quality & Waste Management
, approved Wednesday the use of $2 million of city transportation tax dollars to fund a Business Improvement District for businesses in North Hollywood that have been hurt by subway construction.

The funding comes from setting aside part of the $34 million City Proposition A and C funds earmarked for the Metropolitan Transit Authority to help complete the North Hollywood segment of the subway.

Parks Bernard Parks (born December 7, 1943 in Beaumont, Texas) is a member of the Los Angeles City Council, representing the 8th District in South Los Angeles and former Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Parks attended Los Angeles City College, received his B.S.
 with his staff and command officers from Van Nuys, Foothill, North Hollywood, West Valley and Devonshire divisions.

The community is invited to attend and speak directly with the chief and his staff about police concerns, officials said.

A presentation about the LAPD's FASTRAC command and accountability system will also be presented.

NORTHRIDGE - Detectives searched for a robber who handcuffed a victim early Wednesday before stealing confidential business products from his home, police said.

The robber entered the home in the 7600 block of Texhoma Avenue in Northridge about 4 a.m. Wednesday, said Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Police Detective Ken Crocker of the Devonshire Division's Robbery section.

The robber spent about 15 minutes in the home before fleeing with the products relating to the communications company that deals with cell phones and pagers, police said.

Firefighters responded to a call to cut the handcuffs off the victim.

Recreation workers move to join union

A group of 1,600 Los Angeles recreation assistants filed petitions on Wednesday for the right to unionize.

The recreation assistants provide care at the city's 128 recreation centers, 28 senior centers and 18 child care centers. Police say man died of natural causes

Los Angeles police detectives said Wednesday they believe a man whose body was found along the Hollywood (101) Freeway was a transient who died of natural causes.

The body of the man, who was in his 30s, was found about 11 p.m. Tuesday on an embankment along the freeway near the Vine Street off-ramp, said Los Angeles police Sgt. Robert McDonald.
