James Kenneth "Jim" Hahn (born July 3, 1950) is an American politician from the Democratic Party. He was the Deputy City Attorney (1975-1979), City Controller (1981-1985), City Attorney (1985-2001) and Mayor of Los Angeles, California
 announced on Monday that simultaneous Spanish translation of City Council meetings will be available on Channel 35, the CityView cable station.

Hahn said the programming will broaden the potential audience for live council meetings and reruns.

Citizens called downtown for jury duty in Los Angeles will now have the advantage of a one-day, one-trial system already being used in suburban courthouses, county court officials said Monday.

Man, 55, charged in couple's killing

VAN NUYS - A 55-year-old man was charged Monday with murder in the shooting deaths of a husband and wife during a holdup at their North Hollywood jewelry shop last month.

Fereydun ``Fred'' Shahidzaeh, who authorities described as a transient who knew the victims, is accused of two counts of murder for the May 25 slayings of Garbis Tarakjian and his wife, Mayda. Shahidzaeh is also accused of one count of second-degree robbery.

Danza to present Taft scholarships

WOODLAND HILLS - Actor Tony Danza will present two scholarships totaling $6,000 to two students from Taft High School this evening during the Senior Awards Ceremony.

It is the 10th anniversary of the scholarship program founded in memory of Lamoun Thames, a Taft student who was stabbed by a gang member at Ventura Boulevard and Winnetka Avenue in August 1992.

Westlake council to adopt budgets

WESTLAKE VILLAGE - The City Council is scheduled Wednesday to adopt budgets for the coming two fiscal years.

The 2002-03 budget proposes to spend $10.3 million and the 2003-04 proposes to spend $7.4 million. The 2001-02 adopted budget was $9.4 million.
