BRIEFLY COUNCIL APPROVES BREEDING PERMITS.


SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  - The City Council has OK'd zoning recommendations to allow breeding of cats in all residential areas, and breeding of dogs in neighborhoods that allow livestock.

Under the proposed amendment, residents can keep up to 16 cats in their homes. Dog breeders would be allowed to keep up to 25 dogs on their property.

Residents would be required to apply for a special use permit. They also would have to obtain a kennel license from the county's animal regulation department.

Spooktacular is set to run today

MOORPARK - Animal shows, face painting, photos, pumpkin painting and games will be part of today's Halloween Spooktacular at America's Teaching Zoo at Moorpark College Moorpark College is a California-state funded community college located on a 134 acre (542,000 m²) property reclining on a hill in Moorpark, a town in Ventura County, California. .

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the zoo. The cost is $5 for adults, $4 for children.

Street Fair ready for Halloween run

THOUSAND OAKS Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  - The Thousand Oaks Street Fair has been rescheduled for today, with some new Halloween attractions added to the popular event expected to draw about 25,000 people.

Rain caused cancellation of the fair Oct. 17, so the event was moved to Halloween from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Many of the vendors will have candy for children who attend, said Mike Hebert, chairman of the event for the Rotary Club of Thousand Oaks.

``It wil be huge for the kids. We want them to come in costume and enjoy themselves,' he said. ``We've put together a great kids area this year.''

The fair is expected to attract about 25,000 people who stroll up and down Moorpark Road between Hillcrest Drive and Wilbur Road, near the Janss Market Place.

The fair will feature food, music and dancing, along with about 250 arts and crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant. The Rotary Club of Thousand Oaks sponsors the event, with proceeds earmarked for charity.

A Taste of the Conejo Valley The Conejo Valley is a region spanning both Southeastern Ventura County and Northwest Los Angeles County in Southern California, United States. Alcohol sting nabs 8 area workers

SIMI VALLEY - Eight employees of local businesses were arrested last week on suspicion of furnishing alcoholic beverages

Meetings are set on new Medicare

SIMI VALLEY - The Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program in Ventura County will hold a series of forums in November on new Medicare changes, including the Medicare Advantage changes for 2005 and the drug discount card program.

The forums include one at the Goebel Senior Adult Center in Thousand Oaks at 10 a.m. Thursday, one at the Moorpark Active Senior Center at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 10, and one at the Simi Valley Senior Center Nov. 18.
