BRIEFLY CONTEST ENTRIES TO PRESS FOR PEACE.


LAKE LOS ANGELES Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  - Increase the Peace Day organizers will hold an essay and poster contest with the theme of ``Ways That I Can Personally Increase the Peace in the United States.''

The contest is open to students in sixth through 12th grades, who must write an essay of up to 500 words or a design a poster that expresses the theme. The deadline to enter is April 6.

LANCASTER - Ronald D. Smith, a court bailiff, was appointed to the Lancaster Planning Commission.

Smith was nominated for the post by Councilwoman Michelle Idleman. Smith has been a resident of Lancaster since 1987 and is a bailiff for Superior Court Judge Steven Ogden at the Antelope Valley Courthouse.

Smith is also a computer graphics instructor at Antelope Valley College Antelope Valley College is a comprehensive community college located in Lancaster, California, USA. It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties. .

Gocke extension, pay raise granted
