Soroptimists to mark 60th anniversary

The Eugene club of Soroptimist International will celebrate its 60th anniversary from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Downtown Athletic Club The Downtown Athletic Club was an athletic club in a 35-story building located at 19 West Street in Lower Manhattan, New York City, USA. It was founded in 1926. By 1927, it had purchased this site next to the Hudson River to construct its own building.  in Eugene. Chartered in October 1949, the volunteer service organization for business and professional women works to improve the lives of women and girls. The Eugene club funds scholarships for women and girls, the walk for life, community baby showers A baby shower is a party in which expectant parents receive gifts for their expected or born child. By convention, a baby shower is intended to help parents get items that they need for their baby, such as baby clothes.  for mothers and babies in need, and other community service projects. This year, the club will present the first in a series of grants to help the Senior Companion Program. Tickets for Thursday's event are $25.

 Scene club to meet at library

Eugene's Tween Scene Book Group will meet from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Eugene Public Library downtown. At this free event, the group will discuss "Simon Bloom, the Gravity Keeper Keeper may mean:
