Eugene Mayor Kitty Piercy "Kitty" Piercy is the current mayor of Eugene, Oregon, sworn in January of 2005.

The press dubbed Piercy's election part of a "shift to the left" for the Eugene City Council.
 will meet with west Eugene residents Tuesday at Albertsons, 4740 Royal Ave. Piercy and Ward 6 City Councilor Jennifer Solomon will be available for one hour, starting at 5 p.m.

The sessions are an opportunity for any resident to speak individually with the mayor on any topic of concern. Piercy holds the meeting in a different neighborhood each month.

Class on overcoming negative thinking

A new class will begin Monday at The Center for Community Counseling Community counseling is a generic term for any kind of professional counseling that occurs outside a hospital setting.  in Eugene on ways to manage difficult emotions and negative thinking.

The eight-week course will teach participants how to use mindfulness and problem-solving skills to prevent and overcome depression and anxiety. It will also examine where suffering comes from, and how to move past it.

The classes will meet every Monday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Center, 1465 Coburg Road. Cost is based on a sliding fee scale of $1 to $5 per session. Child care facilities will be provided by St. Thomas Church Thomas Church can refer to:

Eugene parks official plans public meeting

An informational evening with Johnny Medlin, head of Eugene parks and open space, will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Eugene City Brewery, 844 Olive St. The event is sponsored by the Many Rivers Group Sierra Club Sierra Club, national organization in the United States dedicated to the preservation and expansion of the world's parks, wildlife, and wilderness areas. Founded (1892) in California by a group led by the Scottish-American conservationist John Muir, the Sierra Club .
