The Antelope Valley
 Hospital will host a community blood drive aimed at increasing hospital blood supplies by at least 150 pints.

Volunteers wishing to donate blood should visit the hospital's Blood Donor Center from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday. No appointment is necessary.

The center is in the Outpatient Services outpatient services Hospital-based services Managed care Medical and other services provided, to a nonadmitted Pt, by a hospital or other qualified facility–eg, mental health clinic, rural health clinic, mobile X-ray unit, free-standing dialysis unit Examples  Lobby next to the laboratory at the hospital, 1600 W. ``The recent wildfires remind us that disaster can strike at any time and that our community can be isolated from outside help - another reason why it's imperative that our local blood supplies are adequate,'' said Dr. Don Parazo, a hospital trustee and assistant medical director at High Desert Medical Group.

 at Antelope Valley Hospital stays in the Antelope Valley. Last year, Antelope Valley Hospital patients used 8,114 pints of blood or blood products, up 10 percent from prior years.

Donors will get a designated donor parking spot, free cholesterol check, blood type check, and a thank-you gift.

Drawing a pint pint: see English units of measurement.  of blood takes approximately 10 minutes but donors should allow one hour for the entire process.

Donors must be at least 18 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health with no unstable health conditions. Regular donors must allow at least eight weeks between donations.

Palmdale seniors' dinner `cruise'

PALMDALE - Tickets are on sale at the Palmdale Senior Center for an ocean cruise-themed Sunset Dinner Cruise.

 dinner for persons age 55 and older will be 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 21 at the center. Tickets are $7 per person.

Beverly Jensen and The Music Connection will offer musical entertainment. Seniors can enjoy dancing, casino games Games available in most casinos are commonly called casino games. In a casino game, the players gamble casino chips on various possible random outcomes or combinations of outcomes. Casino games are available in online casinos, where permitted by law.  and raffle drawings.
