The Western Association of Schools and Colleges The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) is one of six official academic bodies responsible for the accreditation of public and private universities, colleges, secondary and elementary schools in the United States and foreign institutions of American origin. granted the school an unconditional reaccreditation in January after visiting the campus last fall, when officials met with faculty, staff members and students and reviewed the school's extensive evaluation and self-study. The commission's final report called College of the Canyons an excellent institution with a committed and innovative staff. It cited the school's efforts to create educational and support programs that reflect the interests and needs of the students, and congratulated Superintendent-President Dianne Van Hook for her strong leadership.
