New South Coast Air Quality Management District rules will require the city, over a period of years, to convert to vehicles powered by electricity, natural gas or other clean-burning fuels. - Daily News Council delays film permit vote The Los Angeles City Council Friday delayed a vote on prohibiting commercials shoots on public property during the actors strike. Councilwoman Jackie Goldberg proposed the idea to tighten requirements for producers seeking filming permits. Goldberg said stricter requirements are needed to prevent producers from trying to disguise strike-defying commercial shoots as music video or industrial filming, or obtaining permits for multiple shooting sites to throw off protesters. The proposal was referred to the council's Community and Economic Development Committee. - City News Service Former officer sentenced A former Los Angeles police officer was sentenced Friday to six months in jail for a off-duty DUI crash in Sun Valley last year that left another man severely burned. San Fernando Superior Court Judge Charles Peven also ordered James Reyes, 36, to serve three years probation in connection with the Feb. 25, 1999, crash on the Golden State Freeway. Reyes' license has been suspended and he was ordered to complete an alcohol rehabilitation program. Reyes pleaded guilty April 6 to driving with a blood- alcohol content above the legal limit of 0.08. - City News Service |
