Boy revived after falling into pool

Man fatally shot in gang incident

MISSION HILLS - A suspected gang member fatally shot a man in the parking lot of a Mexican restaurant across from the San Fernando Mission Cemetery The San Fernando Mission Cemetery is a Roman Catholic cemetery operated by the Los Angeles Archdiocese since 1800, and is located at 11160 Stranwood Avenue in the Mission Hills community of northern Los Angeles, California, near the Mission San Fernando Rey de España. , police said Saturday.

Leonel Castillo, 29, of Sylmar was pronounced dead at nearby Providence Holy Cross Medical Center after the roughly 11:45 p.m. Friday shooting at El Presidente, 11451 N. Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles police Sgt. Dean Watts said.

Witnesses told detectives Castillo was a passenger in a silver Honda Accord that pulled into the parking lot just as a dark-color four-door was leaving.

Someone in the dark-color car asked ``Hey, man, what's up?'' then shouted a gang name, said Detective Frank Bishop of the Los Angeles Police Department's Foothill Division.

Castillo got out of his car, started toward the other vehicle and was shot numerous times, Bishop said.

It was unclear whether Castillo was listed as a gang member in the police database, he said.

 settlement reached on mold

The DWP commission is scheduled to vote Tuesday on a settlement of $3.9 million with the architects and builders of the Anthony Office Building and an additional $775,000 payment from insurers.
