BRIEFLY CITY COUNCIL RACES OFF IN HIDDEN HILLS.

HIDDEN HILLS - The community of nearly 2,000 residents has canceled its City Council election on March 6 because of the low turnout of candidates.

Only two candidates filed to run for the two open seats - incumbent Larry Gabriel and newcomer Steven Freedland, City Clerk In the United States, a City Clerk is an elected or appointed official who is responsible as the official keeper of the municipal records. In some places, the Clerk may be known as the "Village Clerk" or "Town Clerk".  Cherie Paglia said.

Councilman H. Brian Herdeg, who served on the council for 17 years, decided not to seek re-election, she said.

Rather than spend the money for a costly election, officials decided to appoint the two men to the seats. The two, who will be sworn in March 12, will serve four-year terms.
