LANCASTER - Two children ages 1 and 7 were taken into protective custody An arrangement whereby a person is safeguarded by law enforcement authorities in a location other than the person's home because his or her safety is seriously threatened.  Wednesday after they were left for nearly an hour inside a locked car while their mother shopped in a supermarket, sheriff's deputies said.
