BRIEFLY CHARITY CARNIVAL IS SET FOR SUNDAY.


The Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  Valley-Newhall Optimist Club, in conjunction with Era Worldwide Realtors and Associates, will be sponsoring a Charity Carnival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at 22722 Lyons Ave., Valencia.

The event will feature games for the young and old, live entertainment, a super bouncer and a dunk tank A dunk tank, also known as a dunking booth or dunking machine, is an attraction mainly used in funfairs, fundraisers, and personal parties. Basically, a dunk tank consists of a large tank of water, over which a seat is suspended. . Fire trucks and police cars as well as the California Highway Patrol highway patrol

 will be on hand.

The club will also be fingerprinting children for identification cards.

More than $5,000 in prizes will be given out during the day, with prize drawings at 12:30, 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. Those who enter must be present to win.

Big band tunes in store for show

Central Park will be jumping to the sounds of swing from the big band tunes of Glen Miller, Cab Calloway Cab Calloway (December 25, 1907–November 18, 1994) was a famous American jazz singer and bandleader. The Zoot Suit Revue will perform at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Central Park, 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road, Saugus.

Zoot Suit Revue interacts with the crowd, keeping residents entertained and dancing. A six show band comprising musicians with backgrounds in swing, big band, r&b and jazz will entertain audiences from teens to seniors.

The Concerts in the Parks series is offered by the city of Santa Clarita Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department to promote exciting experiences for families in the pleasant settings of local parks.
