With the county's 147 locations, and Tuesday's addition of 125 more, there are now 272 places where unwanted children can be dropped off without the mother having to fear prosecution.

In a draft of the possible ordinance, county supervisors would adhere to adhere to

 voluntary campaign spending limits of $150,000 per election.

If contenders accepted limits, they could receive a maximum of $600 per contributor for each election. If they did not, they would be limited to a maximum of $300 per donor for each election.

Fire victims get help from council

PANORAMA CITY - The Los Angeles City Council Tuesday authorized up to $90,000 to help the families displaced by Monday's fire that heavily damaged a Panorama City apartment building.

The council approved the funds on an emergency basis under the city Housing Department's Displaced Tenant Relocation Assistance grant program. The city will give up to $5,000 each to the 18 families that qualify for the program.

Police arrest, jail church volunteer

CANOGA PARK - A 24-year-old man affiliated with Faith Baptist School was arrested on suspicion of having sexual relations with a 14-year-old girl, police said Tuesday.

Tansak Limphaibule was arrested Monday on suspicion of committing lewd acts with a minor and unlawful sex and was being held on $100,000 bail, said Detective N. Toosbuy of the Los Angeles Police Department "LAPD" and "L.A.P.D." redirect here. For other uses, see LAPD (disambiguation).

The detective said Limphaibule met the girl through school, and the two struck up a voluntary relationship. The girl's mother reported the relationship to police on Monday, and Limphaibule was arrested later that afternoon after an investigation, Toosbuy.

Damaged hydrant leads to damage

CANOGA PARK - A vehicle hit a fire hydrant in Canoga Park on Tuesday evening, creating a spout of water that caused part of a tire company's roof to collapse, officials said.

The crash in the 21300 block of Saticoy Street occurred about 7 p.m., said Bob Collis of the Los Angeles Fire Department The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), also known as the Los Angeles City Fire Department to distinguish it from the Los Angeles County Fire Department. It is the agency that provides fire protection and emergency medical services for the city of Los Angeles. .

No one was injured in the crash, and firefighters shut off the hydrant and notified building inspectors about the collapse, Collis said.
