BRIEFLY CAMPFIRES BANNED IN FOREST OVER 4TH.


The U.S. Forest Service announced Wednesday that it banned campfires in the Angeles National Forest The Angeles National Forest (ANF) was established by executive order on December 20, 1892 as the San Gabriel Timberland Reserve. It covers over 2,600 km² (650,000 acres) and is located in the San Gabriel Mountains of Los Angeles County, just north of the metropolitan area of Los  through the Fourth of July Fourth of July, Independence Day, or July Fourth, U.S. holiday, commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. Celebration of it began during the American Revolution.  holiday weekend, due to a tinder dry conditions and high fire danger.

Drunk driver given eight-year term

Camarillo woman held in bomb hoax

OXNARD - A 24-year-old Camarillo woman was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of telephoning a bomb threat in April that evacuated a county probation building at 1400 Vanguard Drive in Oxnard, police reported.

Diana Gomez was arrested when she went to see her probation officer Wednesday morning, police said. Police said Gomez phoned in the threat on April 15 to the office, which has equipment to monitor such activity.

 was sentenced Wednesday to 360 days in jail or a live-in drug treatment program and three years probation.

Pasadena Superior Court Judge Janice Croft imposed the sentence after Michelle Calderon, 34, pleaded no contest to felony evading and child endangerment for the April 11 pursuit, according to a court official.
