A Burbank man is among three people arrested Monday in connection with a firm authorities suspect of taking in more than $14 million in health insurance premiums, but leaving most claims unpaid.

William Kokott, 60, is named in a 37-count indictment indictment (ĭndīt`mənt), in criminal law, formal written accusation naming specific persons and crimes. Man sentenced in Net porn fraud

A Malibu man was sentenced in Los Angeles to more than 11 years in federal prison Monday after he pleaded guilty to charges of defrauding credit card holders of $37 million via his Internet porn site, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced.

Kenneth H. Taves, 52, pleaded guilty in 2001 to having 900,000 credit card numbers with the intent to defraud To make a Misrepresentation of an existing material fact, knowing it to be false or making it recklessly without regard to whether it is true or false, intending for someone to rely on the misrepresentation and under circumstances in which such person does rely on it to his or  consumers and to obtaining money through unauthorized credit card charges.

NoHo area to get spring cleaning Spring cleaning is the period in spring time set aside for cleaning a house, normally applied in colder climates, where the house is difficult to clean during winter.

Malibu smoking ban wins key vote

MALIBU - The Malibu City Council gave initial approval Monday night to banning smoking on the city's public beaches, following similar bans approved by Santa Monica Santa Monica (săn`tə mŏn`ĭkə), city (1990 pop. 86,905), Los Angeles co., S Calif., on Santa Monica Bay; inc. 1886.
