Oak Park district bond rating hiked

OAK PARK - The bond rating for Oak Park Unified has been upgraded to an AA3 rating by an investor service, lowering the district's borrowing costs, officials said Friday.

Moody's Investor Service changed the rating from the A1 category after a meeting with district officials earlier this month.

Boxer: Field lab site needs study

SIMI VALLEY - Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., said Friday that she disagrees with the Energy Department's decision to conduct an assessment of contamination at the Santa Susana Field Lab, and asked for reconsideration of plans for a more sweeping environmental review.

The department has said it would conduct an environmental assessment of its 90-acre former nuclear energy research facility at the Rocketdyne site. But Boxer said a more thorough environmental impact statement that activists have called for is warranted.
