Police seek help identifying robber

Police were seeking the public's help Wednesday in identifying a man who has robbed a number of banks recently.

The City of Los Angeles was a streamlined passenger train jointly operated by the Chicago and North Western Railway and the Union Pacific Railroad.
 have filed a court agreement calling for the Department of Water and Power to start releasing water into the Owens River by fall next year.

Under the agreement, which must be approved by a Superior Court judge, the DWP expects to finish environmental reviews of the project by June, start releasing water into the lower Owens by September 2005 and gradually increase flows to the desired level by April 2006.

Cardenas brother to be city planner

Man struck, killed by Metrolink train

OXNARD - A man was hit and killed by a Metrolink train early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The unidentified 49-year-old man was hit about 6:20 a.m. while walking to work near Rose Avenue and 5th Street in Oxnard, coroner's investigator Mike Feiler said.

An eastbound train hit the man after he crossed in front of another train stopped on a siding, Feiler said.

The running engine of the idling train prevented the man from hearing the one that struck him, Feiler said.

McKeon will lead Harrier jet inquiry

Rep. Howard P. ``Buck'' McKeon, R-Santa Clarita, was chosen Wednesday to head a congressional task force investigating a rash of Marine Corps AV-8B Harrier jet crashes.

Five such attack jets crashed last year, despite repeated assurances by Marine officials that the Corps had taken steps to lower the Harrier's historically high crash rate.

All of the pilots in last year's crashes survived, but the value of the destroyed and damaged aircraft exceeds $100 million, officials said.

SAN FERNANDO - Cindy Montanez became the first Latina and the youngest woman appointed to chair the Assembly Rules Committee, it was announced Wednesday.

The assemblywoman from San Fernando was appointed by newly inaugurated Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez, D-Los Angeles.

The Assembly Rules Committee is responsible for administering the Assembly's $114 million operating budget.
