BRIEFLY BOY HURT IN CRASH AT MUSIC STORE.


MALIBU - A 19-year-old woman crashed her vehicle into a Warehouse Music store Friday night, injuring a 13-year-old boy inside, sheriff's officials said.

The crash at the store, located in the 23300 block of Pacific Coast Highway Pacific Coast Highway may refer to:

, was reported at 7:22 p.m.

The 13-year-old boy received injuries to his lower extremities and cuts to both of his hands. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment, Morris said.

His condition was not available, but his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Driver Linda McDonnell and her minor passenger are seeking unspecified damages, claiming they suffered permanent injuries, shock to their nervous systems and ``great physical, mental and emotional . . . suffering'' because of the accident.

Named as defendants are pilots Howard Peterson and Jeff Erwin, who reportedly were fired from the airline Aug. 3.

No one from the Dallas-based airline was available to comment on the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.

The City Council Friday unanimously adopted an interim ordinance that quadruples the required notice landlords must give tenants being evicted through no fault of their own.

Under the new law, landlords who want to demolish apartments or leave the rental housing business will be required to give 120 days notice instead of 30.

For tenants who are at least 62 years old or disabled, the required notice is now one year. The law applies to apartment buildings built before 1978.

< Ex-LAPD officer will plead guilty

A second former Los Angeles police officer will plead guilty next week to a charge that he deprived a man of his civil rights during an arrest, authorities said Friday.

Jon Paul Taylor, who left the LAPD in 1997, signed an agreement this week with federal prosecutors to plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge, court documents show.

Taylor is due back in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles on Aug. 18 to formally enter the plea, said Thom Mrozek of the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Taylor's field training officer, Edward P. Ruiz, pleaded guilty Aug. 4 to a felony charge, in which he admitted to conspiring with Taylor to deprive Victor Jerome Tyson of his civil rights during an April 21, 1995, arrest.

< Man on freeway hit while walking

UNIVERSAL CITY - A man hit by a pickup while walking on the northbound Hollywood Freeway Friday suffered critical injuries, the California Highway Patrol reported.
