BRIEFLY BOARD WON'T DELAY NEW SEAL FOR COUNTY.


The Board of Supervisors voted 3-2 Wednesday against a motion to delay implementation of the new county seal until after March 1.

Supervisors Michael D. Antonovich Michael Dennis Antonovich (born 1939 in Los Angeles, California) is a member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors representing the Fifth District, which covers northern Los Angeles County, the Antelope, Santa Clarita, Pasadena, and parts of the San Fernando and San  and Don Knabe Donald R. Knabe (born October 15, 1943 in Illinois) is a member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, serving the Fourth District, a crescent shaped district that covers the coastline from Marina Del Rey southward to Long Beach, and southeastern Los Angeles County to  proposed the motion and cast the dissenting votes.

They argued that taxpayer money would be wasted should a committee - which is gathering signatures in an effort to qualify a ballot initiative to keep the 47-year-old county seal - succeed.

``Since there is no lawsuit, and with the high number of signatures already collected, it is only fair and proper that we wait and see if the signatures are certified before spending $700,000 to change the seals,'' Antonovich said last week.

If 341,212 signatures are gathered by March 1 and certified, the matter could go to Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County residents for a vote - at a cost of about $12 million.

Teen struck by car is seriously injured

WOODLAND HILLS - A 13-year-old girl was in serious condition after being hit by a car Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

The girl, whose name was not released, was flown to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles after being hit about 3:25 p.m. at Oxnard Street and Manton Avenue, said Jim Wells Jim Wells MLA (born 27 April 1957) is a politician from the Democratic Unionist Party and a deputy speaker of the Transitional Assembly (Northern Ireland).

Wells is one of six Assembly members for South Down.

Doctor who drove drunk loses license

WOODLAND HILLS - The Medical Board of California said Wednesday it revoked the license of a Woodland Hills physician who violated his probation for a misdemeanor drunken driving conviction by again driving drunk.

Natural gas line cut at construction site

SUN VALLEY - Workers ruptured a natural gas line Wednesday at a construction site in Sun Valley, and some nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution, authorities said.

The line was broken about 7:40 a.m. by workers digging in the 10000 block of Olivia Terrace, said Jim Wells of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

No injuries were reported, and crews were sent to repair the line, Wells said.

Officer who shot armed man ID'd

Reyes told Lopez he was a police officer and ordered Lopez to drop his weapon. When Lopez refused to comply, Reyes shot him, police said.
