BRIEFLY BIKE RACES TO LURE PROS, AMATEURS.


The ninth annual Chuck Pontius Memorial Criterium bicycle race, hosted by Santa Clarita Velo and the city of Santa Clarita, will feature professional and amateur bicycle races beginning at 11:50 a.m. Sunday on the corner of Avenue Tibbetts and Avenue Mentry in the Valencia Industrial Park. Entry fees range from $8 to $20, depending on category. Spectators are invited to attend free of charge. For information, call Performance Cyclery in Saugus at (661) 254-4008.

Safe Rides dinner to honor helpers

Safe Rides would like to thank all the volunteers who make sure Santa Clarita teens get home safely at the organization's 14th annual Recognition Dinner taking place at 5 p.m. Sunday at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 24901 Orchard Village Road, Valencia. The evening will include a barbecue dinner from Rattler's, a slide show, cake and raffle prizes. The cost to attend is $10 per person. For information, call (661) 259-6330.

`Remember' walk slated for Sunday

The Infant and Pregnancy support group will hold its annual Walk to Remember at 2 p.m. Sunday at Eternal Valley Cemetery, 23287 N. Sierra Highway, Newhall. The group will meet at the small chapel at the bottom of the hill for a brief service, then will walk up the hill for a balloon release and dessert reception. Chamber to host Spring Boutique

The Castaic Chamber of Commerce will hold its Spring Boutique from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday on the corner of Castaic and Lake Hughes roads in Castaic. In addition to vendors with handcrafted items, the event will feature items from companies like Salt City Candles, Pampered Chef and Mary Kay.
