BRIEFLY BICYCLIST KILLED IN HIT-RUN CRASH.


VENTURA - A 16-year-old Ventura resident died early Friday from injuries suffered when the bicycle he was riding was struck by a hit-and-run truck driver.

Alfonso Delgado was pronounced dead at Ventura County Medical Center Ventura County Medical Center is a hospital in the city of Ventura, California, USA. It is a 208 bed acute care hospital. The county also operates a 49 bed campus in Santa Paula.  at 1:02 a.m., just 12 minutes after being transported from the crash scene at Main and Donlon streets, Ventura police said.

Witnesses said the driver paused momentarily after striking Delgado, then drove westbound on Main Street away from the scene, said authorities.

Based on witness statements, police said there was little if anything the driver could have done to avoid the collision. Police are asking anyone with information on the driver's identity to call (805) 339-4435.

Interns, residents win raise, day off

Intern and resident physicians ratified a Los Angeles County contract Friday, guaranteeing them raises over the next three years, a day off per week and 24-hour shifts no more frequently than once every third night.

Seven drunk driver suspects arrested

SUNLAND-TUJUNGA - A joint task force of the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division and the California Highway Patrol arrested seven people on suspicion of driving under the influence after patrolling the Sunland-Tujunga area for nine hours late Thursday and early Friday.

Man fatally injured when car hits pole

PORTER RANCH - A 22-year-old man was killed Friday evening when his small sedan hit a light pole on Tampa Avenue, police said.

The collision, reported about 5:50 p.m., occurred as the vehicle traveled south on Tampa. The driver apparently lost control, causing the vehicle to slide sideways into a light pole in a median just south of the Ronald Reagan Freeway, said LAPD Valley Traffic Sgt. Don Kelly.
