Stabbing follows argument in club

NORTH HILLS - A man was stabbed in the parking lot of a club that features women dancing partially nude following an argument in the venue, police said Saturday.

The 22-year-old man was in stable condition after being stabbed twice in the chest about 11:45 p.m. on Friday night at the Classy Lady, 8314 Sepulveda Blvd., said Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  police Sgt. Two meetings on plateau plan

THOUSAND OAKS Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  - The controversial Western Plateau Preservation Plan will be discussed at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Goebel Senior Center, 1385 E. Janss Road, and 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Newbury Park Library, 2331 Borchard Road.

Under the plan Shapell Industries would transfer the 190-acre site to the city for open space, in return for concessions on other developments.

Identity released of shooting victim

NORTH HILLS - A 21-year-old man killed in a shooting in the 15300 block of Parthenia Street was identified Saturday as George Pajuelo of Van Nuys, police said.

Pajuelo was pronounced dead at the scene following the Friday night shooting, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Dan Mastro. A man who was a bystander by·stand·er

Air quality board swears in officer

The South Coast Air Quality Management District The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), formed in 1976, is the air pollution agency responsible mainly for regulating stationary sources of air pollution for most of Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside County, and all of Orange county.  has sworn in its new chairwoman of the governing board.

Norma Glover, who joined the board of the pollution control agency five years ago and is a city councilwoman in Newport Beach, was sworn in on Friday, replacing William Burke.

Glover introduced several initiatives that call for new partnerships to clean the air and address such issues as environmental justice. The board is expected to vote on her recommendations in February.

Collection sites accepting trees

Christmas trees can be dropped at Los Angeles Department of Public Works collection sites citywide today.

Residents also can dispose of their trees by cutting them in half and putting them in green recycling containers. Leaving old Christmas trees on the curb is illegal because of the fire hazard they present, officials said.

Drop-off sites will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Balboa Sports Center, 17015 Burbank Blvd; Branford Park, 13300 Branford St.; Chatsworth Park South, 22360 Devonshire St.; Los Angeles Zoo The Los Angeles Zoo founded in 1966, is a large zoo located in Los Angeles, California, USA.
