1 dead, 3 injured when car hits pole

NORTHRIDGE - One man died and three others were seriously injured Sunday evening after they were thrown from a car when it crashed into a utility pole, police and fire officials said.

The vehicle crashed into the pole just before 8 p.m. in the 9700 block of Wilbur Avenue after sideswiping several cars, said spokesman Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), also known as the Los Angeles City Fire Department to distinguish it from the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
