Power contracts on Strickland site

THOUSAND OAKS - Assemblyman Tony Strickland, R-Camarillo, announced Thursday he is making public the state's long-term energy contracts on his Web site, www.assembly.ca.gov/strickland.

Strickland said Gov. Gray Davis, through the Department of Water Resources, had been charging $60 for copies of the contract. A San Diego Superior Court judge ordered paper copies of the edited contracts be made public.

 a Chatsworth man on suspicion of federal fraud charges arrested two other Southern California men for investigation of the alleged bilking $1.6 million from financial institutions, authorities said.

Authorities were looking for Michael Adeyemo, 37, of Chatsworth. Fullerton police and U.S. Secret Service agents arrested Olateju Olabanji, 34, of Corona and Akinyemi Abayomi, 33, of Whittier this week. All three face federal credit fraud charges.

The men, all citizens of Nigeria, are accused of stealing personal information and financial records from 1,500 people and using it to obtain false driver's licenses that were used to open bank accounts and to secure loans. Authorities say the money was used to buy homes and luxury cars.

LONG BEACH - The U.S. Customs Service today plans to show off its largest seizure of fake watches ever, 40,000 timepieces bearing the trademarks of Rolex, Cartier, Bulgari, Movado and others, an official said.
