Village gets ready for trick, treaters

MOORPARK - The city of Moorpark is getting its ghosts and goblins in line for the 13th annual Trick or Treat Village, set for 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25.

Carnival Games is a video game for Nintendo's Wii console. It is published by Global Star Software, which is a division of Take-Two Interactive.
 with prizes, and creepy crafts, including make-your-own caramel apples and pumpkin painting. The event also includes attractions, face painting and strolling characters. A costume contest for participants age 3 through 12 will also be held.

The Trick or Treat Village will be held at the Arroyo Vista Recreation Center, 4550 Tierra Rejada Road, Moorpark. Tickets will be sold at the event for 50 cents each; activities cost between one and eight tickets each.

Orientation is set at family agency

CAMARILLO - Interface Children Family Services is having an orientation at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at its headquarters, 1305 Del Norte Del Norte can refer to multiple things:

Volunteers are needed to assist in providing information and referral, outreach crisis counseling intervention to runaway and troubled youth and their families and battered women and their children, youth mentoring Youth mentoring is the process of matching caring, concerned adults with young people who may be at risk. The adult is usually unrelated and works as a volunteer through a community, school or church based social service program. , mediation services and training for families and schools. Volunteers are also needed to work with abused children, as office assistants and in many other valuable roles.

Officials needed for youth sports

SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  - Youth sports officials are being sought by the Rancho Simi Rancho San José de Nuestra Senora de Altagarcia y Simi is one of the land grants in California by the Spanish government. The district offers several youth sports leagues during the year, including flag football, basketball and volleyball. Officials are needed for all youth sports. Training programs are available for all leagues for these paid positions.

Discussion to help seniors see fraud

OAK PARK - The Community Foundation for Oak Park, in cooperation with the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, is hosting a program on consumer fraud designed for seniors. The public is welcome to attend this discussion, which will cover fraudulent activities in telemarketing, over the Internet, by mail, door-to-door solicitations and identity theft.

The one-hour program, developed by the California Department of Corporations, is titled ``Seniors Against Investment Fraud'' and will be presented by trained volunteers. It includes a 16-minute video, a lecture, handouts and a question and answer period. A representative of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department The Ventura County Sheriff's Department (VCSD) provides law enforcement for the unincorporated areas of Ventura County, California, USA, as well as several cities within the county. The cities that VCSD serves are Camarillo, Fillmore, Moorpark, Ojai, and Thousand Oaks.  will also be present.

Workshop planned on support issues

The Ventura County Department of Child Support Services support services Psychology Non-health care-related ancillary services–eg, transportation, financial aid, support groups, homemaker services, respite services, and other services  will hold two workshops for employers on wage garnishments and other child-support issues.

The first workshop will be held Oct. 7 as part of Ventura Taxpayer Day at the Radisson Hotel in Oxnard. The child support segment will run from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. The workshop is free, but reservations are recommended. For more information, call (805) 677-2771.
