He and Maria Arellano, 35, were walking home when they were confronted by the second man, who argued with Plascencia and pulled out a knife. He ran away and has not been located.

Police were searching for Jose Tame Monasterio, 29, of Canoga Park. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous, officials said.

Deadly shooter hunted by police

SHERMAN OAKS - One man shot and killed another in a disagreement at a Ventura Boulevard Ventura Boulevard is one of the primary east-west thouroughfares in the San Fernando Valley; as it was originally a part of the El Camino Real (the trail between Spanish missions), Ventura Boulevard is the oldest route in the San Fernando Valley. The victim, whose name was not immediately released by police, was shot about 2 a.m. at the Ritz Cafe, 13615 Ventura Blvd., near Woodman Avenue, officials said. He was taken to a hospital, where he died about 3:30 a.m.

Man found dead behind his house

BURBANK - A 31-year-old Burbank man was shot and found dead behind his house Saturday morning, police reported. His name was withheld until his relatives were notified.

Police received a call at 9:45 a.m. reporting a possible slaying that had just occurred at a house on the 1200 block of North Lamer Street.

When officers arrived, they found a man outside the back of the home who had suffered at least one gunshot wound.

The area was closed off while officers searched for a suspect, but no one had been arrested as of Saturday evening. Anyone with information was asked to call Burbank police at (818) 238-3000.

 was to lead more than 1,500 Harley-Davidson motorcyclists to the Fred Jordan Mission on Skid Row this morning, bringing new toys to some of Los Angeles' most underprivileged children.

The motorcyclists, carrying hundreds of unwrapped toys for the impoverished children, were expected to be decorated like sleighs.

The nearly 20-year-old tradition was organized by Harley-Davidson of Glendale.

Glendale woman wins on 'Big Spin'

GLENDALE - Haidi Kassamanian of Glendale won $40,000 on the California Lottery's ``Big Spin'' television show on Saturday.

``This is wonderful!'' Kassamanian said. ``Now I can afford to pay off my car.''

A Highland woman was the biggest winner of the day. Rochelle ``Bunny'' Williams, a foster parent who bought her ticket at a Highland liquor store, won a $75,000 prize and plans to ``take an awesome vacation in Mexico.''

3 officers hurt subduing man

A man ran amok Amok (ā`mŏk), in the Bible, post-Exilic Jewish family.  at his brother's home in Los Angeles on Saturday, and three police officers were injured before they were able to shock him into submission, a sergeant said.

The ruckus at 11225 Acala Ave., which included breaking windows, started about 1:50 a.m., said Los Angeles police Sgt. Jim Reid of the Foothill Station.

Three officers were hurt while trying to stop the man, he said, adding that one officer had both knees ``ripped up.''
