Strickland, R-Thousand Oaks, said Guthri will oversee operations and services for constituents in the district.

Guthri is a former field representative for Strickland. Library group set to host book sale

SIMI VALLEY - The Simi Valley Friends of the Library will hold its Fall Blowout Book Sale 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Fiction, nonfiction, children's books and records will be sold for 25 cents each or $1 per bag in the library's community room at 2969 Tapo Canyon Road. All proceeds benefit the Simi Valley Library.

Moorpark seeks citizens for panel

MOORPARK - The Moorpark City Council is accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the Citizens Transportation Advisory Committee.

The committee is responsible for gathering information about public transportation and making recommendations to the Ventura County Transportation Committee.

The citizens committee meets the second Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. at the Government Center in Ventura. Mileage reimbursement will be provided for meeting attendance.

The appointment expires in December 2004. Applications are available at City Hall, 799 Moorpark Ave., or at the city's Web site, www.ci.moorpark.ca.us. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. Oct. 23.

Paratransit group meets this week

SIMI VALLEY - The October meeting of the Americans with Disabilities Americans with disabilities comprise one of the largest minority groups in the United States. According to the Disability Status: 2000 - Census 2000 Brief [1], approximately 20% of Americans have one or more diagnosed psycho-physical disability.  Paratransit Advisory Committee will be held Thursday at the Simi Valley Senior Citizens' Center.

The committee reviews transit policies, availability, accessibility, safety and training. The meeting begins at 3 p.m. at 3900 Avenida Simi.

Park district will sponsor classes

OAK PARK - The Rancho Simi Rancho San José de Nuestra Senora de Altagarcia y Simi is one of the land grants in California by the Spanish government. Dinner, dance ball helps cancer fight

CAMARILLO - Community Memorial Hospital's Benefactors Ball will be held Saturday at the Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo.
