The city of Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department will hold an arts and crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant. 3-on-3 basketball tournament set

The Santa Clarita Sports Complex will host a three-on-three basketball tournament April 8. Age and gender will determine participation in the tournament's six divisions, which are 10-11 years, 12-13 years, 14-15 years, 16-17 years, 18-29 years and 30 and up. The cost to enter is $60 per team and the deadline is March 17. For information, call (661) 284-1458.

Catalina Island Catalina Island: see Santa Catalina.  trip signups open

The city invites residents on an overnight trip to Catalina Island on April 11-13. The cost is $85 per person and includes bus and boat transportation, two nights of camping, breakfasts and dinners. Santa Clarita is offering a limited number of T-shirts to those who participated in the Mike Johnson 5K Run/Walk and have not yet received one.
