Music and Marines kick off street fair

QUARTZ HILL - Music, arts and crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant. The term was coined in England in the late 19th cent. as a label for the then-current movement directed toward the revivifying of the decorative arts.  displays and a car show are part of the third annual Quartz Hill Street Faire from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today along 50th Street East from Avenue M to Avenue L-8.

The national anthem and a flag raising ceremony by the U.S. Marine Corps will kick off the festival at 9 a.m. in front of Quartz Hill Walk-In Medical Group at Avenue L-8 and 50th Street West.

Quartz Hill Walk-In Medical Group will serve free coffee and doughnuts at 9 a.m. Registration for the car show will be from 8 to 10 a.m. at Avenue L-8 and 50th Street West.
