Sylmar man to pay $41k for tagging

 - A 21-year-old Sylmar man pleaded no contest Monday to 30 criminal charges and agreed to pay $41,000 in restitution in a tagging case.

San Fernando Superior Court Judge Elizabeth Lippitt ordered Gary Stephen Long to serve 10 years on formal probation and awarded him credit for 111 days served, said Deputy District Attorney Shellie Samuels.

Long pleaded no contest to 18 misdemeanor vandalism charges and 12 felony vandalism charges. He was arrested in June in connection with the tagging, which caused more than $40,000 in damage to businesses in Sylmar.

Nitrogen tank leak clears area unit

GLENDALE - A county medical building in Glendale was evacuated temporarily after a tank of nitrogen tipped over, leaking a little of the substance. No one was injured, officials said.

The leak involving a 25-pound tank at 501 N. Glendale Ave. was reported at 4:24 p.m., said Glendale fire dispatcher Software that determines what pending tasks should be done next and assigns the available resources to accomplish it. Park searched for assailant

LOS FELIZ - Police searched Griffith Park on Monday night for a carjacking The criminal taking of a motor vehicle from its driver by force, violence, or intimidation.

The u.s. justice department categorizes the crime of carjacking as a "completed or attempted Robbery of a motor vehicle by a stranger
 and sexual assault suspect.

A 29-year-old woman told police about 5:30 p.m. that she had been carjacked in Temecula, sexually assaulted and dropped off at the entrance to the park in the 3600 block of Los Feliz Boulevard, said Officer Jason Lee.

The assailant reportedly was seen on foot near the pony rides, and police used horses to search the surrounding area.
