 issued a holiday warning Friday, saying drunk drivers caught with youngsters in their vehicles will be prosecuted for child endangerment in addition to the charge for driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

In the past year, 97 percent of the 158 DUI cases that included a child endangerment charge resulted in a guilty plea, according to according to

Holiday traffic deaths reported

Two people died in traffic crashes on Los Angeles County highways during the first 60 hours of the Christmas holiday, the California Highway Patrol reported Saturday.

Statewide, 27 highway deaths were reported from 6 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Saturday.

Newhall teenager stabbed in Simi

A 17-year-old Newhall resident was in stable condition Saturday after being stabbed in front of a liquor store in Simi Valley late Friday night, police said.

The victim, whose name was withheld due to his age, told police that two people in a truck had picked a fight with him and his friend as they walked through the parking lot of Melody Liquors on Stearns Street about 9:17 p.m.

The passenger jumped out of the truck, the victim said, and struck him several times.
