The Antelope Valley
 Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), organization composed mainly of American blacks, but with many white members, whose goal is the end of racial discrimination and segregation.  will host a membership radiothon Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The theme this year is Don't Just Talk About It ... Be About It! Amir Raheem of K-JEWEL (1380) will broadcast the radiothon live from Murrell's Community Service Agency at the Antelope Valley Youth Center, 2005 E. Ave. Q.

Collection drive set for area stores

PALMDALE - The Salvation Army Salvation Army, Protestant denomination and international nonsectarian Christian organization for evangelical and philanthropic work. Organization and Beliefs


The Salvation Army has established branches in 100 countries throughout the world.
 will set up collection kettles at Ralphs and Food for Less stores in Palmdale and Lancaster from Friday through Sunday to raise money for relief efforts in New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
 and Washington, D.C.

College athlete denies assaults

MOJAVE - An Antelope Valley College Antelope Valley College is a comprehensive community college located in Lancaster, California, USA. It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties.  basketball player pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges he sexually assaulted two teen-age girls.

Jonathan Nave nave (nāv), in general, all that part of a church that extends from the atrium to the altar and is intended exclusively for the laity. In a strictly architectural sense, however, the term indicates only the central aisle, excluding side aisles. , 19, who was released on bail after his Sept. 4 arrest, pleaded not guilty in Mojave Superior Court to five counts alleging that he assaulted the girls, ages 15 and 17, in separate incidents last spring and summer.

Nave, a Rosamond resident, played for Antelope Valley College last year and was expected to be the only returning starter this year. The 2001-2002 team has not yet been picked.

Kern County Sheriff's Department deputies said the younger girl reported she was raped last month. Through investigation, deputies found the older girl. Both were acquaintances of Nave, who they said lured them into isolated areas and assaulted them.
