BRIEFLY 6 PEOPLE INJURED IN FREEWAY CRASH.


GRANADA HILLS - Six people were injured - one woman critically - in a multiple-car crash on the eastbound side of the Ronald Reagan Freeway at White Oak Avenue about 9:35 p.m. Thursday, said Los Angeles Fire Department The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), also known as the Los Angeles City Fire Department to distinguish it from the Los Angeles County Fire Department. It is the agency that provides fire protection and emergency medical services for the city of Los Angeles.  spokesman Brian Humphrey.

All eastbound lanes shut down an hour later. The woman, who may have been hit after getting out of her car to inspect it, was rushed to an area hospital where she was in critical condition.

118 crash driver pleads not guilty

Arson suspect must stand trial

A man accused of setting a fire that caused more than $1 million damage to vehicles and structures at the LAPD's Van Nuys station was ordered Thursday to stand trial.

Hacker disruption of county hotline

As part of the nationwide Operation Cyber Sweep, two men were charged Thursday with illegally accessing computer systems, including a man who hacked into Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County's Child Abuse Hotline, shutting the system down for several days.

From July 1 through July 4, child abuse victims, police officers, hospitals and mental health workers who called the Department of Children and Family Services' hotline were unable to speak to an agency official, or their calls were significantly delayed, because of the hacking crime, U.S. Attorney's Office spokesman Thom Mrozek said.

Former computer technician Walter L. Wiggs has agreed to plead guilty to a computer hacking crime for disrupting the hotline.

Ambassador site targeted for rally

Dozens of parents and children gathered at the site of the Ambassador Hotel on Thursday to call on the LAUSD LAUSD Los Angeles Unified School District (Los Angeles, CA)  to demolish the historic hotel and build anew rather than try to convert it into classrooms.

101 connectors closing for repairs

SHERMAN OAKS - The westbound Ventura (101) Freeway connectors to the northbound and southbound San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay.  (405) Freeway will be closed Sunday for emergency guardrail repair, Caltrans reported Thursday.

The closures will be in effect from 6 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., said the road agency's Deborah Harris. The Van Nuys Boulevard on-ramp on the westbound 101, and the Sepulveda Boulevard off-ramp, are included in the closures, Harris said.

Gun-wielding man sought in slaying

NORTH HOLLYWOOD - A 27-year-old man was being sought late Thursday in connection with the shooting death of another man, both of whom were reportedly dating the same woman.

Witnesses reported two men were arguing about 4 p.m. in the 12200 block of Runnymede Street when one of them, identified as Marchell Wilson of Lancaster, pulled out a gun and fired several shots, said Los Angeles Police Department "LAPD" and "L.A.P.D." redirect here.
