BRIEFLY 2 VENTURA COUNTY MEN SHOT TO DEATH.


Two men were found dead in Ventura County in apparently unrelated cases, sheriff's deputies reported Saturday.

About 5:30 p.m. Friday, deputies found a 71-year-old man dead on the floor in his home in the 12500 block of Mountain Trail Street in Moorpark.

The victim, identified as Dennis Wood, was found after authorities received a call from worried relatives who hadn't seen him for some time.

Wood had gunshot wounds to the chest, but the cause of his death was still under investigation Saturday, officials said.

In the other case, a driver spotted the body of 21-year-old Daniel Campos in the 3400 block of Hailes Road south of Camarillo about 1 a.m. Saturday, officials said.

Campos suffered a gunshot wound to the head, and Ventura County Fire Department Not to be confused with Ventura Fire Department.

The Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD) provides fire protection and emergency response services for the unincorporated areas of Ventura County, California, and for six other cities within the county.

Assailant stabs boy, 17, at party

BELL CANYON - An attacker stabbed a teenage boy from Woodland Hills at a party early Saturday, the Ventura County Sheriff's Department The Ventura County Sheriff's Department (VCSD) provides law enforcement for the unincorporated areas of Ventura County, California, USA, as well as several cities within the county. MS walk set today in downtown L.A.

Thousands of people are expected to join the 5-kilometer MS Walk in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  today, part of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's series of walks, which are expected to draw more than 200,000 participants, officials said.

The walk in Los Angeles will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the South Lawn of the Natural History Museum and will proceed around the Exposition Park Exposition Park is the name of more than one place:
  • Exposition Park (Dallas) - a neighborhood in south Dallas, Texas
  • Exposition Park (Kansas City) - A former baseball park in Kansas City
 area, returning to the museum.

The greater Los Angeles site is one of the largest and most popular locations for the MS Walk, which raises money for research into the cause and cure for Multiple Sclerosis and to help people live with the disease.

Gunman in car kill teen in Koreatown

Alarcon honored by student group

State Sen. Richard Alarcon on Friday received the University of California The University of California has a combined student body of more than 191,000 students, over 1,340,000 living alumni, and a combined systemwide and campus endowment of just over $7.3 billion (8th largest in the United States).  Student Association's ``Legislator of the Year'' award for his commitment and dedication to California's higher-education students.

 executive director, because he exemplifies true leadership and commitment to access and higher education during difficult budgetary times, specifically in regard to his defense of outreach programs.
