BRIEFLY 2 MEN IN CUSTODY AFTER SHOOTING.


VENTURA - Two Newbury Park gang members remained in custody Friday, each being held on $500,000 bail after their arrests on suspicion of attempted murder following a recent shooting in a Thousand Oaks park. Franklin Ramos, 22, and Mario Diaz, 21, were among a group of five or six gang members who got into a scuffle with an unidentified man who was watching a soccer game at Thousand Oaks Community Park Nov. 18.

Bird unrelated to freeway crash

A white flamingo spotted outside the Los Angeles Zoo The Los Angeles Zoo founded in 1966, is a large zoo located in Los Angeles, California, USA.

The Zoo, located in Los Angeles' Griffith Park, is home to 1,200 animals from around the world.
 Friday afternoon probably had nothing to do with a fender bender collision in the same area at about the same time, a CHP officer said.

A California Highway Patrol officer was sent to investigate a report of a white flamingo at Zoo Drive off the southbound Golden State Freeway The Golden State Freeway is a north-south freeway running through Kern County and Los Angeles County, California. Originally built as U.S. Highway 99, it was re-signed as Interstate 5 in 1964.  at about 5 p.m., Officer Karen Faciane said.

But a short time later the officer was called away from the big bird to deal with a two-car collision on the southbound Golden State Freeway at the Ventura Freeway. It took the officer 30 minutes to get to the scene because of heavy traffic, she said.

Girl's condition classified critical

A 2-year-old girl was in critical condition Friday night after a family's Rottweiler Rottweiler (rŏt`wīlər), breed of sturdy working dog developed from a Roman cattle dog introduced into S Germany more than 1,900 years ago. The incident occurred shortly after noon.

``The dog is a family pet and . . . suddenly and without reason it attacked several children,'' Humphrey said.

The dog was removed by animal control workers.

The circumstances of the incident were under investigation.

Man hospitalized after traffic pileup

A 37-year-old man was hospitalized Friday night after being extricated from one of five cars involved in a pileup on the southbound San Diego Freeway The San Diego Freeway (Interstate 405, and the part of Interstate 5 south of the El Toro Y[1]) is one of the principal north-south highways in Southern California, and the major beltway of I-5 running through Southern California. , authorities said.

The crash happened at 7:57 p.m. near the Ventura Freeway, Brian Humphrey of the city fire department said.

The man was taken to UCLA Medical Center UCLA Medical Center is a hospital located on the campus of the University of California, Los Angeles in Los Angeles, California. It is rated as one of the top three hospitals in the United States and is the top hospital on the West Coast according to US News & World Report.  in fair condition. A 35- year-old woman was taken to Sherman Oaks Community Hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening, he said.
