THOUSAND OAKS Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  - Two people were critically injured Thursday in a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of Thousand Oaks Boulevard and Lakeview Canyon Road, officials said.

Two victims were rushed to Los Robles Robles is a common surname in the Spanish language meaning oaks, and may refer to:

  • Charlie Robles (born 1943), Puerto Rican musician
 Regional Medical Center after the 4:30 p.m. crash, firefighters said.

The crash remains under investigation. The victims' identities were not immediately available.

2 seriously hurt in Valley car crash

CANOGA PARK - Two people were seriously injured in a traffic collision at the intersection of Vanowen Street and De Soto Avenue late Thursday.

One victim was airlifted to UCLA Medical Center UCLA Medical Center is a hospital located on the campus of the University of California, Los Angeles in Los Angeles, California. It is rated as one of the top three hospitals in the United States and is the top hospital on the West Coast according to US News & World Report.  following the 10 p.m. crash, a second was rushed to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Woodland Hills.

Their conditions were not immediately available. The cause remained under investigation.

Santa Paula man charged in racing

VENTURA - A Santa Paula man has been charged with vehicular manslaughter vehicular manslaughter n. the crime of causing the death of a human being due to illegal driving of an automobile, including gross negligence, drunk driving, reckless driving, or speeding.  in a fatal December 2002 crash that prosecutors say was caused by street racing.

Genaro Mejia, 19, also was charged this week by Ventura County authorities with driving recklessly and engaging in a speeding contest in his black Chevy Malibu - resulting in a collision that killed Jose Zermeno, 65, on Highway 126, court documents said. Mejia, arrested Tuesday, was released on $50,000 bail, officials said. Arraignment A criminal proceeding at which the defendant is officially called before a court of competent jurisdiction, informed of the offense charged in the complaint, information, indictment, or other charging document, and asked to enter a plea of guilty, not guilty, or as otherwise permitted  is set for May 28.

Auto repair shops charged in fraud

City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo announced the filing of fraud charges on Thursday against six automobile repair shops, including two in the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Group must cut services to poor

 has cut back services to the poor because of a sharp decline in usable donations to its Southern California thrift stores, officials announced.

The distribution of free clothing, furniture, appliances and cars to needy residents has been reduced 30 percent, while emergency aid to families and children has been partially curtailed.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul reported last month that donations to its Los Angeles area stores had plunged 85 percent since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. While donations have dropped, officials said the need for assistance has risen 50 percent since last year.
