BRIEFLY 101 CORRIDOR PLAN TO BE DISCUSSED.


Recommendations for a widened 101 Freeway and more dense development along the corridor to handle growing population over the next two decades will be discussed Tuesday.

Destination 2030, the Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Carnival to aid music department

School request hearing delay

GRANADA HILLS - Hillcrest Christian School Hillcrest Christian School is a private school that was founded in 1971,was formally MCLEUR ACADEMY of the White Citizens Council of Jackson, and was opened in 1968, title was transferred to Hillcreat Baptist Church just after integration laws came into effect, and is situated on  has asked the city's planning and land use management committee to postpone a hearing of its request to expand the school.

The committee was scheduled to hear the school's appeal Wednesday at city hall. Hillcrest is seeking to build an expansion on 5.5 acres of land it owns at the corner of Rinaldi Street and Shoshone Avenue, to allow it to increase its enrollment from 800 students to 1,200. Its expansion plan was turned down by the city's planning commission in June.

Boys badly hurt in head-on crash

TOPANGA CANYON - Eight people were injured Thursday, including two children critically, in a head-on traffic collision on Topanga Canyon Boulevard.

The crash occurred about 8:30 p.m. near Mulholland Drive. Two boys, ages 5 and 7, were airlifted to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, authorities said.

A 32-year-old woman, whom officials identified as the boys' mother, was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, along with another son, 4.

Two 43-year-old men were taken to hospitals with minor injuries as well. Police said two more adults were injured in the crash, but their conditions, ages and genders were unavailable late Thursday.

Two die in crash on 101 Freeway

THOUSAND OAKS - Two people were killed Thursday evening in a traffic crash, shutting down the Ventura Freeway for several hours.

The crash occurred in the 101 Freeway's southbound lane about 5:45 p.m. at Ventu Park Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. At 10 p.m. all southbound lanes were still closed, and it was unclear when they would be reopened.
