BRIEFLY 1,000 POT PLANTS PULLED FROM FOREST.

The 4- to 6-foot high plants were eradicated Friday, a month after they had been spotted during a routine aerial patrol.

A recent fire that closed the forest delayed efforts to rip out to rap out, to utter hastily and violently; as, to rip out an oath.

About 15,000 plants have been discovered in the forest this year. Among them were 500 reported by firefighters battling the recent Williams Fire.

The fire burned 38,000 acres of trees and brush.

45 candidates set to meet local voters

NORTH HOLLYWOOD - On Monday, about 45 of the 111 people running for Valley council and mayor will make themselves available to meet with the public at a North Hollywood business.

Valley council candidate Frank Sheftel, owner of the Candy Factory, 12508 Magnolia Blvd., said several mayoral candidates have agreed to appear at 1 p.m., and a number of council candidates will be there at various times from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Man badly injured in roadway crash

ENCINO - A 41-year-old Sherman Oaks man was fighting for his life Saturday night after he lost control of his motorcycle, struck a light post, and was hit by a car on a wide stretch of Burbank Boulevard, police said.

Nurses told police Smith smelled of alcohol, but no charges were filed Saturday. The Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic officers were investigating the crash.

PACOIMA - Two unidentified people were in stable condition Saturday after they were shot in the legs at a party at a Pacoima residence, police said. Gang officers investigated the incident, reported as a call of shots fired at 12:30 a.m. in the 14000 block of Aztec Street.
