BRIEFLY 'WE'RE ON MOOOVE' A.V. FAIR THEME.

LANCASTER - The Antelope Valley This article is about the Los Angeles County region. For the census-designated place in Wyoming, see Antelope Valley-Crestview, Wyoming.

The Antelope Valley
Fair's theme for its last year at the 74-year-old fairgrounds n. pl. 1. same as fairground.  is ``We're on the Mooove.''

The theme, which reflects the fair's move in 2004 to a new fairgrounds under construction in west Lancaster, was chosen from nearly 700 entries by the fair board of directors.

Picking a theme proved difficult because it had to be coordinated with a jingle and fair decorations, fair Manager Dan Jacobs said.

``It's always tough just because you get so many people ... it's always hard just when something doesn't stick right out and grab you,'' said Jacobs.

The theme winner, Nancy Morefield, will ride in the 2003 Antelope Valley Fair parade Aug. 23 through downtown Lancaster as a VIP and will receive two tickets to all the grandstand events.

The fair will be held from Aug. 22 to Sept. 1.

Nearly 400 entries from a theme contest last fall had to be scrapped when fair officials decided the new fairgrounds wouldn't be ready in time. Those suggestions were all about the new fairgrounds.

The original contest's entries will be kept and added to next year's contest, which again will try to pick a theme about opening the new fairgrounds.
