The 11th annual ``Evening with The Rep,'' to benefit the Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. This year's romantic event will feature a petite buffet catered by Lucchese's Italian Deli, a hosted bar, a raffle and a walk-through viewing of five different romantic scenes from various plays.

Apo Yessayan, husband of board member Janet Yessayan and owner of Classic Designs Jewelry, will give guests a chance to win a diamond at the event. Mitchell painting in silent auction

Local artist Shane Mitchell has painted a portrait of ``Old Glory,'' the Pico Canyon oak tree that is being moved to make way for a road widening project, to bring attention to and generate funds to save other oak trees in the area.

The painting is the subject of a silent auction taking place at B & R Gallery through 2 p.m. Feb. 16. Bidding began at $5,000. A percentage of the proceeds will be donated to the Santa Clarita Oak Conservancy, with the remainder going to the creation of smaller paintings. Valentine's Day show scheduled

Zonta Club hosts theater benefit

The Zonta Club of the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  will present one benefit performance of Eve Ensler's ``The Vagina Monologues'' at 7 p.m. March 6 at the Canyon Theatre Guild, 24242 San Fernando Road, Newhall. Ballet Folklorico wins dance prizes

The Santa Clarita Community Center Ballet Folklorico won first place and second place in two categories at the ``Season of Peace'' dance tournament held Jan. 18 at the Japan America Theatre in Los Angeles. It was the first major win for the group since winning first and second place at the 2002 National Folklorico Competition.

Dance groups from all over Southern California competed in the ``Season of Peace'' tournament, performing routines in varied styles including cultural, modern, praise, hip-hop and jazz. The Community Center Ballet Folklorico won first place in the 12-and-under division, and second place in the 13-and-older division performing dances from various regions of Mexico.

Library Friends fund-raiser set

The Friends of the Libraries of the Santa Clarita Valley will present its major fund-raiser, ``An Evening in Monte Carlo,'' from 7 to 11 p.m. Feb. 15 in the Activities Center at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex, 20850 Centre Pointe Parkway, Canyon Country.
