`Master Class' set for repertory run

NEWHALL - The Santa Clarita Repertory Theatre in Newhall will present ``Master Class'' at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. Sundays from March 12 through April 17.

Directed by Jason Breitkopf and produced by Kimberly Valkenaar, ``Master Class'' focuses on a world-renowned opera diva who humorously recounts life moments while teaching young opera students.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $12.50 for seniors and $10 for students and actors. Call (661) 222-7278 for reservations.

Students to play chamber music

VALENCIA - Students from California Institute of the Arts' School of Music will present an evening of chamber works from the Renaissance to the present at 8 p.m. Monday in the Roy O. Disney Roy Oliver Disney (June 24, 1893–December 20, 1971, aged 78) was, with his younger brother Walt Disney, co-founder of what is now The Walt Disney Company. Roy served as the company's chief executive officer (1929–1971)-though title name wasn't given until 1968-,  Music Hall.

The free concert will be directed by CalArts faculty members Mark Menzies and Rachel Rudich.

Menzies is an internationally noted violinist, a member of the esteemed Ensemble Sospeso and chairman of the programs in performance at CalArts School of Music.

Rudich has made a name for herself as a practitioner of new music for the flute. She has performed contemporary chamber music with such ensembles as The New Music Consort and The Los Angeles Philharmonic The Los Angeles Philharmonic (LAP) is an American orchestra based in Los Angeles, California, United States.
