NORTH HILLS - Police evacuated residents of a North Hills neighborhood for two hours Sunday morning Sunday Morning may refer to:

Mission brings gifts to Skid Row

The Fred Jordan Mission hosted its 22nd annual Christmas Toy Celebration on Sunday to provide toys, clothing, food and other gifts to benefit 15,000 homeless and impoverished children, women and men.

More than 40,000 new toys were distributed to underprivileged children. Each family also received a sack of groceries and other gifts.

``I'm so grateful for the generosity of people in this community who have made possible all the toys, the food and the gifts,'' the mission's Willie Jordan told KABC KABC Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children  (Channel 7). ``Because without their support we would really be in trouble. It's going to be a great Christmas on Skid Row.''

About a half-dozen ``suitcase-size'' bundles of marijuana were found beneath a trap door in a home in the 100 block of Ellis Street, said Long Beach police Sgt. Paul LeBaron.

The drugs have an estimated street value of $640,000, said LeBaron.

Body of woman discovered in car

IRVINE - Police said they found a dead woman slumped in the front seat of a car driven by a man they say was firing a handgun near an intersection on Sunday morning.

David Benjamin Rodgers, 37, of Lancaster was arrested on suspicion of homicide, authorities said. He suffered a gunshot wound to his right ankle and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
