Police say man hit mom, officers

SUNLAND - Two officers were injured Thursday night in a struggle with a man they were arresting on suspicion of hitting his mother with a brick, police said.

Officials identify body found in road

SUNLAND - The Coroner's Office has identified a man found dead on a dirt road as Mark Anthony Escalante, 32, of Los Angeles.

Escalante was killed and then dumped in the 8300 block of McGroarty Street, Detective Chuck Lenane of the Los Angeles Police Department's Foothill Division said Thursday. The body was found Wednesday morning by a person walking a dog.

Officials were trying to determine the precise cause of death and a motive. Anyone with information is asked to call (818) 834-3115 or (818) 756-8861 after hours.
