Fuzzy Zoeller, who lost his endorsement deal with K-mart after making racial jokes about Tiger Woods, has signed a one-year clothing deal with Sport-Haley apparel and is close to a contract with a club company, according to a representative for Zoeller.

``We finalized the deal with Sport-Haley a couple of days ago,'' Dave Lobeck, president of Fuzzy Zoeller Productions, said Saturday. ``We have several other deals pending, including one with a club company.''

K-mart canceled its endorsement deal with Zoeller and Dunlop dropped him because it distributes its clubs through K-mart. Zoeller still has a deal to play the Maxfli ball and continues to do corporate outings for Occidental Chemical, said Lobeck, who added, ``All of his companies stayed with him except K-mart.''

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Stanford's Anthony Bookman, playing a final game in his home stadium, ran for a touchdown and his long kickoff return set up a score as the West All-Stars beat their counterparts from the East 24-7 in the East-West Shrine Classic at Stanford. For the West, Nebraska quarterback Scott Frost was 8 of 13 for 68 yards and an interception.

Florida All-American receiver Jacquez Green is skipping his senior season to enter the NFL. Green had 61 catches for 1,024 yards and nine touchdowns.

A Division I football playoff, often a controversial topic of debate, will not be discussed at the NCAA convention in Atlanta. ``I see very little interest,'' executive director Cedric Dempsey said during the first day of the 92nd convention, which ends Tuesday.

Former Fresno State football star Michael Pittman has pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery charge of attacking a girlfriend. Pittman, a running back who was Fresno State's Most Valuable Player last season, was sentenced to undergo treatment for a year and was placed on probation for two years.

NBA: The Chicago Bulls' Michael Jordan, in what probably was a strategically timed comment to fuel the debate over the Bulls' future, left the door open somewhat for a move to the New York Knicks. ``It wouldn't be that I wouldn't love to play in New York. I would love to,'' Jordan said. ``But that would be a selfish act not conferring with my family and knowing that my kids are in school and I can't take them out. That's not great parenting.''

Former Knicks coach Red Holzman, admitted to a New York hospital last week for treatment of an unknown affliction, is expected to be hospitalized another 4-6 weeks, a hospital spokeswoman said. The New York Post reported that the 77-year-old Holzman was stricken with leukemia.

NHL: The partnership trying to buy the New York Islanders has cleared the most extensive background check in NHL history and is likely to be approved Jan. 17 by league owners, the NHL said. The group is headed by Phoenix Coyotes part-owner Steven Gluckstern.
